Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association emerged victorious
The “Hong Kong Cup” Dragon Boat Race, sponsored by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo (Tokyo ETO), was held on 31 May at Yamashita Park in Yokohama. Representing Hong Kong, the Hong Kong China Dragon Boat Association (HKCDBA), claimed the championship title, triumphing over 26 competing teams.
Speaking at the trophy presentation ceremony, the Deputy Hong Kong Economic and Trade Representative (Tokyo), Mr Leo Tze, congratulated the winning team and expressed his appreciation to all participating athletes for their remarkable efforts and sportsmanship. He also highlighted the importance of sports as a platform for cultural exchange and friendship, and expressed his hope for continued people-to-people connections between Hong Kong and Japan.
Hong Kong has long been recognised as one of the world’s leading dragon boat racing hubs, and HKCDBA’s victory reflected the team’s dedication, skill and strong team spirit. Spectators enjoyed the exciting competition, with many closely contested races drawing enthusiastic support from the crowd.
In addition, during the Yokohama Dragon Boat Races, Tokyo ETO also operated a promotional booth on 30 and 31 May, where visitors had the opportunity to learn more about Hong Kong’s latest developments, culture, tourism and business opportunities. The booth also featured a body painting activity with exclusive Hong Kong-themed designs, drawing substantial interest from visitors and provided an excellent platform to showcase Hong Kong's diverse and vibrant appeal to the public.
